Not only does this pink paloma recipe have a deliciously sweet flavor, but the added citrus fruits really help to enhance that taste, too. Everyone who has tasted this always remarks about the lime flavoring that I add to the drink and also enjoys the pink color, too.

While this can be made and enjoyed anytime that you like, it’s great for a party cocktail, girls night, or a slow sipper at the end of the day. All that you really have to worry about is making sure that you have your Blanco tequila on hand and ready to go and getting your tastebuds excited as well.

This can be served in a highball glass or in any glass of your choice. I also like to add a little bit of pink Himalayan salt on the rim and squeeze a tad bit of fresh lime juice on it as well before serving.

Ingredients

Tequila – You can choose your favorite type and brand of tequila here. There isn’t just one option that fits.

Grapefruit juice – This can be purchased at the store, or you can squeeze fresh grapefruit juice to add to the drink. (or do both!)

Lime Juice – This is best coming from fresh lime.

How to make a Pink Paloma Cocktail

Step One: Add 4-5 ice cubes to your cocktail shaker, then pour the ingredients.

Step Two: Squeeze in some fresh lime for extra flavor. In a pinch, you use bottled lime juice but only use half the amount listed. It can be stronger than fresh.

Step Three: Shake the cocktail shaker for about 5 seconds, then pour it into a chilled glass of your choice.

Variations

Use pink grapefruit soda – If you don’t want to use pink grapefruit juice, you can opt for using grapefruit-flavored soda water as well. Club soda could also be an option, too.

Add sweetener – For a bit of sweetness to be added to the cocktail, add agave syrup. You can add it right to the glass rim if you’d like.

Make a salt rim – Adding some salt to the rim of the glass is a good way to add a pop of sweetness and savory to this slow-sipping cocktail. It’s easy to add kosher salt to the rim of your glass.

Add a garnish – You can add a lime wedge to the rim of the glass, or even a grapefruit wedge, too.

Common Questions

When should I serve this cocktail?

I think that you should serve it anytime that the mood strikes. It’s a great choice for Cinco de Mayo or a fun addition to any weeknight as well. The lightness and taste of the drink make it a great choice for the end of the day when you are sitting and putting up your feet.

You can also serve this at a party for your guests since it’s so fast and simple to make. In less than 10 seconds, you can make a fresh cocktail for your friends.

Do I have to serve this over ice?

No, you don’t. This drink can be served neat or over ice – your choice. In fact, it might be a good idea to test it out both ways and see which one you like the best.

Some people prefer citrus drinks to be served chilled, while others like them to be at room temperature. You’re the only person that can make and decide that choice, and the only way to know the answer is to try it out.

Can I make this cocktail in advance?

I don’t recommend it. Since it’s such a fast and simple cocktail, making it and enjoying it fresh is going to be the best flavor and taste.

What is the difference between a Paloma and a margarita?

The biggest difference between the two is that a margarita doesn’t have grapefruit juice in it. Other than that, the two drinks are actually made very similarly.

Is a Paloma or margarita healthier?

When it comes to healthy recipes, the Paloma is going to be a better choice than most cocktails and drinks because it’s low in sugar and not made up of a ton of other ingredients. Like everything in life, moderation is the key to having a healthy diet, so not overconsuming is a simple way to stay on track.
